Nursing Center FAQs

How do I schedule a tour?
Simply contact the Admissions office at the center of your choice. Appointments are not required but we do encourage them so our admissions director can spend as much time with you as necessary to provide a complete tour and answer your questions. To request a brochure or schedule a tour through this website, visit the Contact Us page.

What is your admissions process?
If you or your loved one is currently in the hospital, ask the hospital social worker or discharge planner to fax your current medical information to our admissions office. If you’re coming from home, your physician will need to complete a current history and physical for you. If you’re coming from another nursing center or an assisted living center, ask the staff social worker to fax your medical information to us. We’ll review the information to make sure we can provide the services you need. We’ll also look at beds available to see how quickly we can accommodate you.

What time of day are patients admitted?
Although we’re happy to accept patients 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, most are admitted between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. each day.

What personal items should I bring?

We want your stay to be as much like home as possible, so we recommend bringing 7 – 10 days’ worth of personal clothing along with any personal care supplies that are important to you (toothpaste, deodorant, electric shaver, make-up, etc.). Please be sure all your clothing and personal items are marked with your full name.

Who does the laundry?
Depending on your preference, either your family or our facility can do your laundry. We charge $30 per month for laundry services. Regardless of who is doing your laundry, though, we ask that all clothing be marked with your full name. That way if something gets accidentally misplaced, we can return it to its rightful owner.

How do I pay for services?
We accept Medicare, Medicaid and a variety of insurance plans. For your convenience, our business office will submit claims to the appropriate carrier on your behalf. If you do not meet the coverage criteria or your claim is denied, you’ll receive a bill from us. Rest assured we will do our best to help maximize your coverage.

When are visiting hours?
We have no limits on visiting hours.  Family, friends, children and even pets are welcome to visit  24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Can guests eat meals with me?
Absolutely.  Guest meals are available daily and can be purchased by contacting our receptionist.  We also have a private dining room available by reservation. Please contact the facility receptionist for information on how to reserve the room.

Do you have a beauty and barber shop?
All of our centers are equipped with a full-service salon. All salon services are billed to the patient.

Do I have to bring in my medications?
You don’t need to.  We have contracted with a pharmacy to provide medications to all of our patients. Unless your stay is covered by Medicare or Medicaid, you’ll receive a bill from the pharmacy for your medications. If you have prescription benefits coverage, the pharmacy will submit a bill to your insurance company on your behalf.

Are private telephone and cable available?
Yes, private telephones and basic cable are available in all rooms.

Will you provide transportation to doctor’s appointments?
We will be happy to assist in arranging transportation to and from your appointments outside the center in the most cost-effective manner that’s in keeping with your needs.

Do you have a physician on staff?
In addition to a medical director, we have a number of physicians who are credentialed to see patients at each of our centers. We welcome your physician(s) to follow your care as well, as long as they complete the necessary paperwork and follow State and Federal guidelines regarding the care of nursing center patients.

How often will I be seen by a physician?
In general, a physician will see you within 24 hours of your admission to our care center.  Beyond that, you’ll be seen as often as medically necessary based on your diagnosis and current condition. Long-term care patients are seen monthly. In general, assisted living residents go out to see their own doctor whenever necessary.

How often will I get therapy?

Therapy is provided at least five times per week. We’ll complete most therapy assessments with you within the first 48 hours of your admission. Each therapy assessment takes thirty minutes to one hour to complete. If your physician orders more than one type of therapy, you can expect to spend one to two hours in the assessment process. Once complete, our clinical team will determine how much and how often you’ll receive therapy.

Do I have to bring my own medical equipment?
For your convenience, the center provides medical equipment for you to use during your stay. If you already have your own equipment, feel free to bring it to the center. Just be sure to mark all personal medical equipment with your full name.

When will I be discharged?
Your diagnosis, prognosis and progress toward your goals affect how long you’ll stay with us. Keep in mind that it’s difficult to determine an exact discharge date at the time of your admission. Our interdisciplinary care team will meet weekly to review your care plan and progress. Depending on your progress, your discharge date may change several times throughout your stay. Rest assured a specific discharge date will be set once you achieve your goals.

Do you have any activities?
Social, educational and recreational activities are available each day of the week. From music and games to crafts and religious services, we offer something for everyone.

What is your staffing ratio?
We strictly follow State and Federal staffing guidelines, and we’re proud that our centers always exceed the minimum standards. In addition to exceeding State and Federal guidelines, our staffing ratios differ by level of care. We take into account the clinical care needs of all our patients and adjust staffing accordingly.

Can I smoke at the center?
All our centers are smoke-free facilities. Smoking by residents and guests is permitted only in designated areas.
